here’s the deal for you uk’ers and eros-

no tip = 3 count, not one molecule more.
tip = lagniappe, so the money you give me, you’ll save by not having to buy 2 or 3 more drinks.

(dont expect lagniappe at the corporate jernts, btdubs)

I’m talking about the chick that plays radiohead and vera lynn and billie holiday on the musical saw by the river. sorry if you havent got here yet, coco robicheaux just passed on and his second line was second to none. I have felt sorry for the rest of the parts of the world who don’t pass people this way.

dragons den plays the newest music electronica and dub etc etc its for 20 year olds.

checkpoint is great because it can be anything, but sometimes its the black metal the south is famous for.

one eyed jacks can be really douchey but it brings the larger acts, including one of the best femi kuti shows I have EVER seen.

Hi-ho has a lot of locals but also a lot of tourists. Saturn bar is a bit better whenever it decides to be open these days.

Siberia kicks ass. it will transport you back into the mid 90s hardcore punk era in half a second flat.

couple more: if you come here, dont miss rebirth at the maple leaf and dont miss the soul rebels at bon temps, the circle bar is quaint and awesome. the saint has been great but invaded by 20something tulane students recently. (I’ve left out a hundred good bars but if you want, drop me a line or check me on the book of face.)

Its more than the water: New Orleans and a part of North Carolina (Yele) were the only two places during slavery to allow the slaves to gather, keep their language and stories and cultural heritage and music, and
that has stuck around and grown itself. We are all part of this place here, its good and its bad, its history, because Fortuna wouldn’t let it be crushed, even under the system of slavery. back of town, yall.

I’ve lived in New Orleans off and on my whole life and still am amazed at the sheer amount of great music here. On ANY night of the week!

Thanks Jeff! Maybe you’ll come down to NOLA and play a show or two with your band in the near future?
